For one weekend only. A not-for-profit production in aid of local NHS charities. Also on 24th April performances at 11am and 3pm.
This is a Panto style show with a difference… well, several actually! There will be no elaborate sets. Instead there will be basic, minimalist scenery and obvious, visible set changes. But, we will be using a screen (after all, we are in a cinema!) to add another dimension to your experience. This is a real pun-demic with jokes coming at you fast and often. It is suitable for all the family although the jokes are definitely aimed at adults: some will sail, like the Jolly Woger, over the heads of young children.
Nevertheless, youngsters will enjoy the characters, the visual gags and slapstick… and the botty burps!
And now the serious bit….
While we need to continue to take Covid 19 very seriously a well times pandemic joke can help us to make sense of the last two traumatic years. It may seem gratuitous in these troubled times to make fun of something as serious as a global pandemic but shared laughter can actually give us strength in adversity. While great progress has been made with regard to vaccines it is also true that laughter is the best medicine.
We can assure you that we have treated this difficult topic with warmth and sensitivity. Our story is one of good (mankind) defeating evil (coronavirus). So laugh with us – and sing along – as Peter, with the Darling Girls and his friends… the Pans, fight with pirates, flirt with mermaids, dance with cowboys… and save the planet!
