Inaugural Sussex International Film Festival being held at Hailsham Pavilion. The festival is being held over 3 days from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th November.
Day 1 starts with “The Moo Man” – a feature documentary about the Hailsham farmer Steve Hook and will include a Q&A session with Steve Hook afterwards.
The 2nd film is “Six Minutes to Midnight” – a period mystery thriller set in a pre-WWII school in Bexhill. Written by resident writer and comedian Suzy Izzard, and starring Sussex resident, the phenomenal Dame Judi Dench
The final film of the day will be “Hope Gap”, written and directed by one of our Patrons, William Nicholson, and set in Sussex.
Day 2 starts with a showcase from one of Sussex’s film schools, Zylo Performance. Zylo is a small Brighton-based company who provide music, drama, film and theatre based children’s services such as after-school clubs, holiday clubs, school workshops and parties. Their goal is to provide access to high quality arts opportunities to the widest possible range of children, enabling them to experience the many associated benefits.
The 2nd film is “Adventure Boyz” a children’s adventure film by locally based director Howard Ford. Inspired by parent’s observations on how much time kids, and adults alike, spend on their devices, Adventure Boyz aims not only to entertain the whole family, but to remind children about the exhilaration and joy of discovering and experiencing the outside world.
The 3rd film is “Rocketman”, the Elton John biopic, which was edited by the festival’s head judge and ex-Hailsham student and Oscar winner, Chris Dickens. The film tells the story of Elton John in his early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through to his partnership with Bernie Taupin.
The final day, Sunday 5th November is the first Sussex International Film Festival Competition & Awards Ceremony. A selection of films that have reached the semi-finals of the competition will be screened, followed by the finalists and then an award ceremony in the evening.
